NMC New Guidelines | Non-Biology students can take the NEET-UG Exam !

According to NMC’s New guidelines, non-biology students can take the NEET-UG Exam. Candidates must have completed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as the primary subjects from a recognized board are also eligible to sit in NEET-UG Exams.

According to a public notice issued by NMC, applicants who have taken all the required subjects — physics, chemistry, biology/biotechnology, and English — as well as additional subjects after passing Class XII will be eligible to take the NEET-UG exam for admission to MBBS and BDS programs in India.

The earlier rules stated that after graduating Class XII, the study of biology/biotechnology or any other required subject could not be completed as an additional subject. The recent NMC ruling has reversed this, allowing anyone interested in pursuing a medical degree to do so even if they did not have biology/biotechnology as a key subject in Classes XI-XII.

The National Medical Council issued the 'Graduate Medical Education Regulations-2023. The NMC, in its meeting on June 6, 2023, decided that the previous approach of the previous MCI should be revisited after detailed discussions while taking into account the National Education Policy (NEP-2020), which allows for a great deal of flexibility in the study of various topics in class 12.
