UP NEET UG 2026 Round 1 Rescheduled After High Court Order, Fresh MBBS-BDS Counselling Begins

UP NEET UG Round 1 Counselling 2026 for MBBS and BDS has been rescheduled after an order from the Allahabad High Court, Lucknow Bench. The Directorate General of Medical Education and Training (DGME), Uttar Pradesh, has started the first round counselling process again. The earlier seat allotment, announced on September 7, 2026, will no longer be valid. Applicants who participated in Round 1 earlier, including those who had already received a seat, have to fill and lock their fresh choice filling.

Why Has UP NEET UG Round 1 Counselling Been Rescheduled?

The UP NEET UG Round 1 counselling 2026 has been rescheduled by the following order of the Allahabad High Court’s Lucknow Bench. The order was passed on September 16 and related to the reservation system for state-quota MBBS seats in four government medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh, including Ambedkar Nagar, Kannauj, Saharanpur and Jalaun.

The court put the 91% reservation arrangement on hold in these four colleges. The court directed that the counselling follow the reservation percentages applicable in other government medical colleges in the state, including 21% for SC, 2% for ST and 27% for OBC candidates. Since the court order was issued after the first-round seat allotment, the DGME revised the counselling schedule and announced a fresh UP NEET UG Counselling 2026 Round 1 process.
