The UP NEET PG Counselling 2026 is conducted by Directorate General of Medical Education and Training, Uttar Pradesh. This is the official counselling body for admissions to MD, MS and Post MBBS Diploma courses on the basis of NEET PG 2026 scores. The counselling process will be entirely online through the official website, which will help students register for the counselling process.

In order for a candidate to become eligible for the counselling process, they should have appeared for NEET PG 2026 Exam and should have secured the required qualifying marks. The admissions are made purely on the basis of NEET PG scores. Candidates who have met the eligibility criteria set by state and national government authorities are eligible to participate in the counselling process. The counselling process follows a reservation policy as per Uttar Pradesh government norms.

The counselling session will start once the NEET PG 2026 results are announced. There will be various rounds of counselling, namely Round 1, Round 2, Mop-Up Round and Stray Vacancies round. In each round of counselling, candidates will be expected to register, pay fees, fill choices, get allotted seats and finally join their allotted colleges. Seat matrices will be made available online, which will indicate the number of vacant seats available in various colleges.

UP NEET PG Counselling Eligibility Criteria 2026

The eligibility criteria for UP NEET PG Counselling 2026 specify that only those candidates can participate in the counselling for postgraduate medical courses in UP who have completed their MBBS from a recognised college and have a valid NEET PG score. Also, they must have finished their internship by the stipulated date and must be registered under the Medical Council. These requirements must be met by the candidates in order for them to participate in the counselling.

The UP NEET PG counselling registration process consists of multiple steps. The detailed step-by-step process of the counselling process is described below. 

Step 1: Publishing official counselling notification by the Directorate General of Medical Education & Training (DGME), Uttar Pradesh.
Step 2: Online registration on the official website of DGME UP, along with the payment of the registration fee and security deposit amount.
Step 3: Verification of documents at respective centres or through online submission as per directions from DGME.
Step 4: Publishing the merit list for Uttar Pradesh candidates based on NEET PG results and eligibility criteria.

Steps for UP NEET PG Counselling Choice Filling & Locking

Below are the simple step-by-step instructions for UP NEET PG Counselling 2026 choice filling and locking process-

Step 1: Log in to the official DGME UP NEET PG counselling portal with the help of NEET PG roll number, password and security pin.

Step 2: Check if the registration process has been completed and the required security deposit has been made (₹30,000 for government colleges, ₹2,00,000 for private colleges).

Step 3: Choose the preferred colleges and courses (MD, MS, or PG Diploma) from the list of available options. The choices must be arranged according to the order of priority.

Step 4: Check the choices entered, make any necessary modifications and ensure the final order of choices reflects the true preference.

Step 5: Lock the choices by selecting the ‘Lock Choices’ option. After locking, no modifications are allowed.

Step 6: Download the confirmation slip of the locked choices, which must be submitted during the document verification process.

Step 7: Wait for the publication of the seat allotment result from the DGME. If the candidate has been allocated a seat, download the allotment letter and join the college with all the required documents.

UP NEET PG Counselling Registration Fee 2026 

The counselling fees for UP NEET PG 2026 consist of two parts, one being the registration fee and the other the security deposit. The registration fee is relatively lower, around 3000 INR and is non-refundable. The security deposit varies based on the type of college. In government colleges, the security fee is around INR 30,000, whereas in private medical colleges, it is relatively higher, around INR 2,00,000. The security fees ensure that no seat is wasted and will be returned if the candidate does not get a seat or if they join. The payment of fees is required on time to be able to participate in choice filling and seat allotment.

The reservation policy of the UP NEET PG Counselling 2026 provides equal opportunities for all categories of students. Scheduled Castes have 21% reservation, whereas Scheduled Tribes have 2% reservation. UP NEET PG Counselling Merit List 2026

The UP NEET PG Counselling Merit List 2026 will be published as a state merit list in PDF format by the Directorate General of Medical Education & Training, Uttar Pradesh. The PDF can be downloaded to access the merit list. The preparation of the merit list is based on marks obtained in the NEET PG exam, eligibility criteria and reservation. The preparation of the ranks is according to the marks secured in the exam. The inter-merit rule is applied if two or more students have obtained the same marks. The inter-merit rule is applied according to age and wrong attempts.

UP NEET PG Counselling Rounds 2026 

The UP NEET PG counselling for 2026 will be conducted in four rounds. The first round will begin in the first week of November, in which registration, payment, choice and seat allotments will be done. The second round will be conducted in mid-December, in which fresh choices and registration will be done. The Mop-Up round will be conducted in early February, in which vacant seats will be filled, except for those candidates who have already resigned after being admitted. UP NEET PG Counselling Seat Upgradation & Resignation Rules

In UP NEET PG Counselling 2026, the rules of seat upgradation and resignation have been clearly stated. If the candidate is allocated a seat in Round 1, he or she can opt to upgrade the seat in Round 2. The candidate can upgrade the seat by reappearing in Round 2. The original seat allocated to the candidate is cancelled if he or she is allocated a better seat. The rules of resignation have also state that if candidates resign within the given time frame, then they may lose their security deposit.
