The National Medical Commission recognises medical colleges that meet its standards with NMC approval. There are several standards to be met, including those related to infrastructure, faculty, hospital facilities and curricula. After passing licensing exams such as FMGE/NExT, Indian students can only practice medicine in India with degrees from NMC-approved institutions.
