NEET UG Counselling 2026 Updates: MCC Open Seat Resignation Window for Freeze Candidates, Check Details Here

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has activated Round 1 seat resignation facility for NEET UG Counselling 2026. According to MCC Notice Number 17 issued on August 31, 2026, eligible candidates can apply for resignation between 3:30 PM on 31st August 2026 and 1 PM on 2nd September 2026. This provision applies only to those applicants who were frozen and who had accepted and joined their Round 1 seat allotted through MCC counselling process but now wish to resign from their allotted seat. Students opting for resignation are expected to strictly follow process set by MCC at mcc.nic.in and appear in person at their allotted institute. The counseling authority clarified that resignation facility will be available only to Round 1 freeze candidates who have already joined their allotted seats and now want to surrender them.

MCC has released schedule for those applicants who plan to vacate their Round 1 allotments in NEET UG Counseling 2026 process. As the resignation window for Freeze and Float candidates differs, make sure to have a look at relevant schedule before filling out necessary paperwork.

NEET UG 2026: Key Details on MCC Round 1 Seat Resignation 

Students who do not want to pursue their allotted seats in Round 1 have to go through resignation formalities within given time. They are required to physically visit the allotted institute and go through resignation process with the concerned authorities. Once the procedure is complete, applicants must make sure that Resignation Letter or Seat Withdrawal Form is issued to them. They must also make sure that concerned Nodal Officer of allotted institute completes the formalities.

How to Resign or Withdraw MCC NEET UG Round 1 Seat?

If candidates have opted for FREEZE during NEET UG 2026 Counselling Round 1 allotment process and wish to resign from allotted seat now, then they must follow instructions provided by MCC. This process cannot be done just by filing an application online, rather then candidates have to visit allotted institute and complete formalities of resignation through Nodal Officer of institute.

• Visit the institute in which Round 1 allotted seat has been joined.

• Ask for resignation or withdrawal from allotted Round 1 seat.

• Follow the procedure of resignation as instructed by allotted medical or dental college.

• Make sure that Resignation Letter/Seat Withdrawal Slip has been generated online on website of MCC by Nodal Officer of admitted institute.

• Check that resignation or seat withdrawal slip is successfully generated online.

• This process needs to be done between August 31, 2026, at 2:00 PM and September 2, 2026 at 1:00 PM.

• This resignation will not lead to any forfeiture of security deposit.
