NEET PG 2025 Cutoff Revised: Category-wise New Qualifying Marks Released
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has amended the NEET PG 2025 Cut-off marks for postgraduate medical courses. This move comes in the wake of the third counselling round for the 2025-26 academic year, with the objective of filling thousands of empty seats available in medical colleges in the country.
Why the NEET PG Cut off Was Revised?
Approximately 18,000 PG medical seats were left vacant after the second round of counselling.
In order to facilitate the resource utilisation and to prevent wastage of seats, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) reduced the cutoff percentage significantly.
However, it has been widely anticipated that such a move could create controversy, as some medical organisations are of the opinion that reducing standards could weaken merit.
Category-wise Revised NEET PG 2025 Cutoff Marks
According to the official NBEMS notification, the new qualifying marks are as follows:
This means that candidates from reserved categories are now eligible even with negative scores, as the cutoff has been lowered to the 0th percentile.
Key Highlights of the Update
The original results for NEET PG 2025 were announced on 19th August 2025.
The Health Ministry approved the revised cut offs, resulting in the revised cut-off for Round 3 counselling.
The decision is likely to increase the pool of people eligible to take part in the currently ongoing admission process.
Though the ranks are the same, the list of people who qualify for election has significantly expanded.
What Candidates Should Do Next?
Candidates meeting the eligibility criteria should refer to the NBEMS and MCC websites for counselling dates.
Documents needed for verification: NEET PG Score Card, MBBS Degree, Internship Completion Certificate, and Category Certificates.
Keep yourself updated regarding seat matrix releases and cut-offs for colleges, which will be released during counselling rounds.
The cutoff of NEET PG 2025 is among the most important revisions, as it directly affects a huge number of medical aspirants. With a cut off score of 103 for the General category and a 0th percentile (-40 cut-off score) for reserved category candidates, it brings hope to many aspirants who would otherwise not have been eligible.
It is a second opportunity for students seeking admission into postgraduate medical courses. For policymakers and educators, it raises important questions about balancing seat utilisation with academic standards.
