Choice Filling Strategy for MP NEET PG Counselling 2026

  • The candidates need to match their choice list with their NEET PG ranks. The high ranks need to give preference to top government colleges and branches, while mid and low rank candidates need to strike a balance between their choice of branches and colleges.

  • Each college in Madhya Pradesh has different rules and service bonds for candidates. Candidates need to weigh academic reputation and service bonds while considering a college.

  • The preference list has to be filled in, first according to the preferred speciality, followed by the preferred college. This will help candidates avoid any random filling of preference list, which may result in an undesired seat.

  • The candidates who are eligible for both quotas need to weigh the seat matrix and number of candidates competing for the seat. This will help them distribute their preferences for both state and national counselling sessions.

  • Vacancies often arise in later rounds, especially the mop-up round. Candidates should continue participation until the final round to maximise opportunities, rather than withdrawing early.

  • Once choices are locked, they cannot be editted so candidates must review entire list thoroughly before final submission to avoid errors that could cost them a preferred seat.

Common Mistakes to Avoid During MP NEET PG Counselling 2026

  • The MP NEET PG counselling process follows a pre defined schedule. In case a candidate is unable to finish the registration process or choice filling within a stipulated timeframe, they are disqualified for that round of counselling.

  • Any discrepancy in documents like domicile, completion of internships, or proof of categories can lead to disqualification. Hence, it's always better to check documents in advance to ensure that original documents as well as photocopies are in order.

  • A well-thought-out list of choices based on academic aspirations and research conducted by university is required.

  • Information from unofficial sources can lead to misinformation. It's always better to refer to government notifications or official websites as primary sources of reference.

  • Many candidates are disheartened after a round or two of counselling, feeling that they have no further chance. However, it's always better to stay in the game because many seats are added in subsequent rounds.

  • Each college can have its own set of fees or service bonds that a candidate might have to pay. It's always better to be prepared in advance to avoid any surprises.
