Moreover, candidates must complete their one-year compulsory rotatory internship by the deadline set for this academic year. The deadline for completing this internship is expected to be on September 30th, 2026. Also, candidates must be registered with the Gujarat Medical Council or the National Medical Commission.
Counselling is the formal process by which students select their preferred medical speciality and college according to their state merit rank declared after the NEET PG result 2026. There are various stages to the procedure, starting from the online purchase of a PIN and registration, followed by the mandatory verification of the physical documents at the Help Centre and lastly, the "Choice Filling" procedure by the students for their preferred colleges. The Counselling procedure for the 2026 cycle will have four stages: Round 1, Round 2, the Mop-Up Round and Stray Vacancy Round, after which the students need to pay the tuition fees and join the college to confirm their seat allotment.

Gujarat NEET PG Counselling Merit List 2026
The Gujarat NEET PG counselling merit list for 2026 is the most crucial document for the students from the state. Once the verification of the documents is done from the help centre, the merit list is declared by the committee (ACPPGMEC) on their website. This list ranks all the eligible candidates according to their NEET PG score. When candidates find their "State Merit Number," it is of great importance as it tells them where they stand compared to other people. This is the ranking by which they are allocated a seat, not the "All India Rank."
Gujarat NEET PG Counselling Choice Filling & Locking Process 2026
To complete the Gujarat NEET PG Choice Filling and Locking process 2026, follow these steps on the official ACPPGMEC portal:
Step 1: Go to medadmgujarat.org and enter the User ID, Password and 14-digit PIN.
Step 2: Go to the menu option "Choice Details" and click on "Available Choice" to access all the eligible college and subject combinations.
Step 3: Selection of Preferences: Click on the "Add" button for the preferred branches to shift them to the "Filled Choices."
Step 4: Candidates can use the "Move" or "Interchange" button to rearrange the choices so that the most preferred choices are at the top (Position 1, 2, etc.).
Step 5: Keep clicking on "Save & Continue" during the course of the process so that candidates don’t lose data in case of a session timeout.
Step 6: Review the list carefully to distinguish between Government (GMC), Semi-Government (GMERS) and Private (SFI) seats because the fees for each type are very different.
Step 7: After candidates have finalised their choices, click on "Lock Choices" and enter the password to complete the process. Note that one cannot change their choices after they have locked them.
Step 8: Download and print the "Locked Choice Receipt" for future reference at the Help Centre.

- Skipping Physical Verification: Failure to visit the help centre for physical document verification of mandatory documents will result in cancellation of the application.
- Invalid Category Documents: Submission of outdated and/or improperly formatted category certificates (SC/ST/SEBC/EWS) will result in allocation of seats under the General category or disqualification.
- Poor Choice Filling Strategy: Selection of fewer choices and/or failure to take into account last year's rank trend may lead to allocation of zero seats.
- Failure to Lock Choices: Failure to "lock" saved choices until the deadline may lead to failure of choices being taken into account for allocation.
- Inaccurate Internship Dates: Submission of an internship completion date that does not strictly fall within the official 2026 cutoff date will result in disqualification.
Preparation Tips for Gujarat NEET PG Counselling 2026
- Keep an eye on the official website for announcements regarding the merit list, purchase of PIN and counselling.
- Procure the mandatory Registration PIN within the specified period from the official website to start the application process.
- Gather all relevant original support documents, NEET PG result, MBBS degree, completion of internship document and registration with Medical Council.
- Double-check that internship completion date meets cutoff date set by admission board.
- Validate that registration with Gujarat Medical Council is obtained or renewed before deadline (required for document verification).
- Validate that EWS, SC, ST, & SEBC category certificates are available and issued in accordance with state regulations.
- Lock and finalise the college preferences carefully before the last date, as the system does not allow any changes once the last date for preference entry is closed.
Gujarat NEET PG Counselling Previous Year Trends
From the trends followed by the previous year, it can be noted that the competition for clinical branches of government medical colleges in Gujarat is extremely high. The most sought-after government medical colleges such as B.J. Medical College, Ahmedabad and Medical College, Baroda, always see the highest cutoffs, especially for MD Radiodiagnosis and MD General Medicine courses. Even branches such as Radiodiagnosis, which are specialised branches, usually see ranks ending in double or early triple digits in the best of colleges, while other government colleges, such as those in Surat and Rajkot, offer a little more scope.
