FMGE December 2025 Results Released: Nearly 77% Candidates Fail to Clear Screening Test
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences has now released scores for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination conducted in December 2025. The figures reveal that there is a considerable difference between foreign medical professionals and passing an examination for a license as a medical professional within India.
Out of a total of 10262 candidates who passed the FMGE/NExT exam, nearly 75% did not pass the required screening test and therefore cannot get their medical licenses.
FMGE December 2025: Key Statistics
The examination was conducted on January 17, 2026, and the results were declared on February 6, 2026.
Slight Improvement Compared to June 2025 Session
While the overall performance remains concerning, it is perhaps a shade better than in the previous exam cycle: the December session recorded a modest increase of 4.76 per cent from 18.61 per cent in FMGE June 2025. Despite this improvement, the qualifying rate is below 25% again.
Scorecard Download and Verification Process
In an official notification, NBEMS has made it clear that the results of the examination are to be regarded as provisional until the candidates appear for in-person verification of their identities and documents prior to the distribution of the pass certificates. The candidates may download the scorecards by successfully logging into the official website natboard.edu.in.
Additionally, the results of four candidates have not been released, and communication of individual reasons has been made to the affected candidates through email.
Answer Key Corrections Announced
NBEMS stated that, as per the final answer key, one question was found to be technically incorrect, while another had two correct answers. Marks for these questions were awarded to all candidates accordingly. However, these corrections did not significantly impact the overall pass percentage.
Registration Verification by State Medical Councils
“All State Medical Councils (SMCs) will be shared digitally signed results in MS Excel format directly by NBEMS for verification of FMGE pass certificates presented by qualified candidates for registration,” the board said in its official statement.
The FMGE is a mandatory screening test for Indian citizens and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) who have obtained their MBBS degree from foreign institutions and wish to practice medicine in India.
